About Alicia and Her Healing Journey

Hi, I am Alicia, and I feel honoured that you're reading this.
Growing up, emotions always felt like something I couldn't quite manage. I often felt they were too much, which led me to believe that I was too much.
Despite an apparently good childhood and a safe home, I came to understand that trauma is not always born from big, catastrophic events. Sometimes it develops because our nervous system simply isn't able to cope with and process what we're experiencing at the time. For me, this eventually led to the development of an eating disorder in late adolescence.
I was very studious and analytical, believing that if I could just understand my struggles and where they came from, I could think my way to being well. It turns out that insight alone wasn't enough.
Although previous therapies gave me incredible understanding, I still felt disconnected from my emotions. I became good at talking about them, but not necessarily feeling them or allowing myself to stay with them. For me, that is where true transformation began.
Everything changed when I started seeing a somatic therapist (without really knowing what somatic therapy was). The shifts happened not only in my mind but in my body and my life too. Alongside this, I discovered yoga and movement, which helped me reconnect with my body and learn to feel again in safe, manageable ways.
I am incredibly passionate about the idea that healing isn't about being perfectly well. It's about embracing what it means to be human and learning to hold the full spectrum of our emotions in ways that feel manageable for our nervous system.
Today, I still have difficult days because this is real life. The difference is that I now have the capacity and the tools to navigate them. My hope is to help you discover your own capacity, build the tools that work for you, and offer a space where you feel genuinely seen, supported, and cared for. I truly believe that so much healing happens within the therapeutic relationship itself.
On my days off, you'll usually find me:

- Practising yoga or going to a class
- Enjoying delicious meals with family and friends
- Exploring new towns and villages
- Going for walks (preferably with coffee and cake involved!)
- Listening to podcasts
